Masuaku

Didn't exactly cover himself in glory for Lukaku's second. Cresswell back for Saints away?

Taking after his manager by trying to make friends during the match rather than doing his fucking job.

Players can smile. And Bilic was smiling with Mourinho on the touchline. If he was marking Lukaku he shouldn't be. He will not win many headers against him whether he smiles or not.

Bilic was practically making out with Mourinho for a lot of the game while his team were in need of a kick up the backside.

For once I find myself in agreement with you. The bollocks about smiling / laughing was just something Henry and Neville could use to get a reaction and justify their punditry roles.
As said, it was the attrocious marking that was the problem, not the laughing.
I think he is terrible defensively, but pretty good going forward and has bags of pace. Perhaps playing as a winger would be better for him. Can't be any worse than Snodgrass.

Several times lukaku was left totally unmarked no wonder he scores every game against us

Re: Masuaku

He had a 'mare today & if Cresswell was fully fit I should imagine he would have been hooked much sooner
As has been said, he looks good going forward, but his passing was sloppy, his tackling poor & positioning awful (the last could be a management problem)

Hang on!
How many times has someone called you a cunt and you've just laughed??
Lukaku maybe just called him a little fuckpig!

Better than bad Cresswell.
Not as good as good Cresswell.
If good Cresswell is available, he plays

We haven;t seen much of good Cresswell for some time. Pretty much a whole season in fact. Hopefully he'll resurface soon.

Slav said after the game they had worked on defending set pieces for 3 days. 3 whole days and they decided he was the man to mark Lukaku

I like Masuaku - definitely better than Cresswell for most of last season... was truly awful today but then so were many players.

Not a big issue imo. He's a good player. Like the rest of the team it was a tough afternoon. It would be absurd to drop him after one match.

Re: Masuaku

Said on the proposed team thread that in games like this away to big clubs I'd think of using him ahead of Cresswell on the left hand side. Have no idea what we were doing at that free kick. Reid marking space and not reacting and the left back marking a beast like Lukaku. By standing behind him and making no effort to attack the ball or block him. 3 days on the training ground? FMOB
